Pine Bluff Art League
July 9-Oct. 23 in Simmons First Reception Gallery and Bellamy Theatre Exhibit Hall
The juried Pine Bluff Art League Exhibit features approximately 40 works of art from its 100-plus membership.
Members of the League range from amateur to professional and many have been acknowledged throughout the state and nation for painting, sculpture and photography. Awards to be given include Best of Show, First, Second and Third Places and Honorable Mention.
Winners are Jane Townsend for Fantasy, the Bob Abbott Best of Show award; James F. Townsend III for The Good Earth, First Place; Inis Ray for Kicking Up Your Heels, Second Place; Janet Peebles for Poppy Cats, Third Place; Trey Ashcraft for Just Hanging Around, Fourth Place, and Barbara Owen for The Meadow, Juror's Award.
The Pine Bluff Art League began as The Brush and Palette Guild, a small group of enthusiastic artists in the 1940s.
Henri Linton, professor and chairman of the department of art at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff and director of the University Museum and Cultural Center, is juror for the show.
The exhibit and reception are free and open to the public.
