Jamie McAfee with the Pine Bluff Country Club and chefs from his cooking classes will lead a series of cooking classes about foods from Africa. Did you know that most African-American foods have some basis in foods found in Africa? Jamie will share his immense culinary skills and knowledge about this subject. Don’t miss it!

Take a Magic Carpet Ride to a week’s worth of fun and enjoy exciting art and science projects at the Arts & Science Center during Spring Break 2010.
King for a Day: Take a Magic Carpet Ride on Monday and learn about the cultures of West Africa. Students will work together to create a throne and study the thrones found in Expressions of African Culture.
I Feel a Little Spacey: On Tuesday, the magic carpet will travel to space and learn about satellites. Even create a workable rocket and blow up a thing or two. Learn about telescopes and mirrors and enjoy the exhibit Illusion Confusion.
Life’s a Masquerade: This one’s for those theater buffs. On Wednesday learn how to create a character on stage by using masks, costumes, makeup and expressions. The kids will also learn about the exhibit, “Expressions of African Culture,” and the use of masks in African culture. Part of the class also will include “How to Audition.”
Lions, Crocodiles and Monkeys, Oh My!: Thursday we’ll take a magic carpet ride to an African Safari. Learn about animals in Africa as we look at camouflage, skills and abilities and use that knowledge to create a mask, poster or clay figure.
Nanotechnology: What’s the Big Deal?: Friday the magic carpet will fly into the world of the very tiny. Create a Mini Me. Enjoy fun Nano games and look forward to the exhibit on Nanotechnology opening in April at the Center.
